By The Sea Collection
2019 collection is inspired by life on the Mediterranean Sea. My city - Tel-Aviv - is on the beach. Summers here are long and hot, affecting how we live, dress, and carry ourselves. While researching the collection I studied the paintings of Spanish painter Joaquin Sorolla who perfectly captured various scenes by the Mediterranean Sea, including its strong light and relaxed atmosphere. I also looked at historical photographs by Zoltan Kluger from the port of Haifa and the beaches of Tel Aviv, and found the same strong light and almost identical scenes. These similarities depicted through art tell a story of a common lifestyle shared by all countries of the Mediterranean Sea. It's as if this force of nature is integrated into its residents' inner landscapes. The sea tends to breathe a light yet powerful wind of freedom into the heart, even when mixed with a deep, dark fear of the unpredictable. Today, the Mediterranean Sea once again serves as an escape route for many on their way to finding new hope. I too am grateful for its presence. Just knowing I have this escape around the corner makes me happy.
