I have worked on this collection during 2020 lock downs. Like many people around the world we spent a lot of our time cooking. Usually I use the story line of my collections as an opportunity to connect to themes, thoughts and ideas I would like to dig deeper in to and research. This year it was simply something I missed deeply- restaurants! Spending time outside in cafés and restaurants is a fundamental part of Telavivian life.

As we live in a warm climate, we spend a lot of our time outside dining with friends. sharing food, working quietly with a laptop at a café, casually going out in flip-flops for a glass of wine in your neighborhood or dressing up for a dinner at a restaurant with white table clothes and simple bouquet made of fresh herbs. If you live in Tel Aviv one of the above is experienced almost on a daily basis.

As my starting point for research is always historical work wear, the culinary industry provided me with an abundance of material. Uniforms of Chef's, Waiter's, Bartender's, Baker's, Butcher's, Host's etc., have been the inspiration for this collection.

The collection is named after a quote of the legendary Claudia Roden. This collection is a love letter to the culinary industry workers that work hard to bring happiness and enjoyment in to our life on a daily basis, Cheers!

Culinary expert, journalist and researcher Ronit Vered has given this collection a very special honor by featuring it in her weekly column in Ha’aretz with an article about the history of culinary workwear accompanied by this special photo shoot by Dor Kedmi with some of our local culinary legends.
